Goodbye 2019…

My top nine “liked” posts on Instagram for 2019

I’m not sure if I am glad 2019 is over because a lot of good things happened for me professionally in 2019, but a lot of the bad stuff that happened is going to continue to impact things in 2020.

The Good Stuff!

The Bad Stuff…

The “good” list outweighs the “bad” list by a large margin, but the bad stuff is going to affect my 2020 and beyond since 100% of it has to do with what’s happening to MAD Magazine. I don’t know if I’ll continue to have work in every issue of MAD. I do know the days of 6-7 page parodies are over (at least for now). The work I’ve done for the last couple of issues are two page features. I’m happy to do them, of course, but I was just getting the hang of those movie and TV parodies! Ah well.

On to 2020! I’ve got a few new irons in the fire. We’ll see what the future holds!

  1. Moacir Ferreira says:

Happy New Year! Thank You for your help!

  2. David Lubin says:

Tom, your positives more than outweigh the negatives (All MAD issues–using either definition…LOL). You didn’t add the positive of affecting all of us who have an awesome caricature of ourselves, done by one of the best caricaturists around. I’m sure avenues will open up even wider with all your accomplishments. We all knew at some point MAD was going down, but you’re on your way up…even higher than you would have thought. Happy New Year to you and yours!

  3. John Trinidad says:

Happy New Year Tom, I hope it will be the best one yet!!!!

  4. Ron Savelo says:

Maybe it’s time for someone to produce a TV/Movie parody magazine. That was always my favorite part of Mad anyway. Maybe a TV show and a movie in each issue. Just thinking.

  5. Jimmy Pereira says:

Do you think Mad will go back to being a comic book? That way it would be JUST movie and TV parodies, which, IMO, was the highlight of the magazine.

  6. Tom, wish you for this new year alsof the best. In drawing, with family, health. Let it be also a good year.
Still thanks for the workshop in Amsterdam, and the poster you send. Marvellous…!
