“Special Edition” Bond Prints with Original Art!

October 24th, 2020 | Posted in General

Earlier this month I released my “updated” James Bond caricature print “Shaken Not Stirred”. It was updated in that I added new caricatures of the two “unofficial” Bonds (meaning they were outside the “Broccoli” Bond film series) Barry Nelson (1954’s TV show “Climax!”) and David Niven (1967 spoof movie “Casino Royale), and I also did all new caricatures for both Sean Connery and George Lazenby, as I had grown to dislike the previous ones. The other four, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig were just slightly revised (removed the “wingtip” collars on their tuxes, which Bond aficionados assure me Bond would never be caught dead in, and mirrored the image of Moore and did some fixing there since I didn’t realize the original reference I used for him was backward, and his hair part and mole were on the wrong side!)

It occurred to me recently that as a result I never did the “Special Edition” version of this print. What I’ve done in the past is to offer a set of “Special Editions” of my latest prints, each accompanied by the original inks of one of the caricatures. In this case, I only have 4 of these special editions: Nelson, Connery, Niven and Lazenby, since they are the only four I did completely from scratch.

I just posted these four special editions in the Studio Store. You’ll get a copy of the print, numbered SE X of 4, PLUS the original inked art of whatever Bond you purchased. the inks are done in dip/pen and brush with india inks and some archival marker touches, on 11×17 bristol. All signed of course.

Just saying this might make a great Christmas gift for that special Bond fan in your life!
