Idiots in Columbus

August 30th, 2018 | Posted in General

I took a 24 hour breather yesterday to fly out to THE Ohio State University and see the “Artistically MAD” exhibit at the Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Museum. I met my pal and fellow Usual Idiot Ed Steckley there, and go the grand tour from the museum curator Jenny Robb. It’s a great show I highly recommend if you can make it to Columbus. Here’s some pics of some of the highlights:

  1. Jason Chamberlain says:

That exhibit is amazing! Thanks for sharing all these wonderful photos, Tom!

  2. Erick Sahler says:

I stopped in on a road trip from Colorado to Maryland and it renewed my love of Mad. Came home and ordered a two-year subscription. Is this the same exhibit that will be at the Society of Illustrators in New York?

    • Tom Richmond says:

No. The SoI exhibit is focused on all of EC Comics, not just MAD. I’m sure they’ll be some MAD stuff in it but probably a lot more of the horror, crime and other title’s art.

  3. Tom Kerr says:

I saw this in June and loved it. I believe it runs until October. Another highlight was touring the library there also. All cartoon and comic art related.
