Today is the final day of our campaign, and Des and I have our over 600 awesome backers to thank for not just reaching our initial goal, but all our stretch goals! We are humbled and grateful for all the support, and we can’t wait to continue to work on the book and share our progress with backers and everyone as we go. Thanks to the incredible support of our backers, CLAPTRAP‘s 5th and final stretch goal just got unlocked! There will now be TWELVE FULL MOVIE PARODIES in the book, which if you include the six movie poster spoofs from our previous stretch goal and other surprises, will probably push the book close to or over 100 pages!! THANK YOU ALL! WOW… What’s next? The “funding’ portion of the campaign ends at midnight PST tomorrow, and the book project’s Indiegogo page moves into the “Indemand” phase. We’ve only got FOUR MORE DAYS to go on Desmond Devlin and my Indiegogo campaign for CLAPTRAP, our book of MAD style movie parodies. Here’s another example of the kind of sketches I’m going to be doing in the book for those who contribute at the “Schmendrick” level and up (Yes, we’re doing a spoof of fan favorite and universally acclaimed (yet never spoofed in MAD) movie “Blade Runner”.) Again, these will not be ten minute scribbles but “Sketch o’the Week” level drawings I spend some time on. Desmond and I revealed another sneak peek from our upcoming book of movie parodies CLAPTRAP on the campaign page today, and the subject is the 1960 Alfred Hitchcock horror classic “Psycho”! There’s plenty more of this parody to come after this splash page… but you’ll have to buy our book to read it!! This one was our second (and final) “Megalomaniac” backer choice. Backers at the Megalomaniac level got to choose a movie for us to spoof, get drawn into the parody and they get all the original art, plus our undying gratitude. MAD writer Desmond Devlin and my crowdfunded book project CLAPTRAP is in its stretch run… only 14 days left until the end of the campaign! We’ve blown away the initial goal and our first two stretch goals, and are inching toward our final stretch goal which is a big one: we add an 11th parody to the book! That’s 10% more content, more laughs for your bucks, and about 3-4 weeks more work for Des and I.
