Here’s a final “Sketch o’the Week” for 2025… the recently passed sixties French sex symbol Brigitte Bardot. Frankly I only knew of Ms. Bardot as a… um… sixties French sex symbol. I’ve never seen one of her movies. I’ve never heard her sing. I didn’t know she forsook acting and performing at 39 and became a prominent animal activist (good) and later was fined and convicted multiple times in France for inciting racial hatred through several controversial racist books and public comments (bad). A controversial figure for certain… but she did have great lips. READ MORE

Here we go with another useless look back at my work for MAD Magazine, and we are very rapidly catching up to present day. This piece appeared in MAD #44 Aug 2025, which was on newsstands in June. That was only 6 months ago! This was written by my CLAPTRAP cohort Desmond Devlin. This issue was “Superman” themed, as it dropped right around the time the James Gunn “Superman” movie came out. It was yet another issue that featured multiple pages of new content (14 to be exact) all of which was Superman-centric. Des came up with this clever two pager where the guy who… READ MORE

Ho Ho Ho here we go with another (and closing in on the last) of the work I have done for MAD Magazine. We are rapidly closing in on Present day stuff! When I started doing this look back it seemed likely I had done my last piece for the magazine. MAD had become almost entirely reprint material, and other than the occasional cover it certainly looked like my run at MAD had come to an end. This particular piece changed that, at least for now. This wasn’t for a special political issue, or a tribute piece to a recently passed UGOI, or for any… READ MORE

I did this one for this week’s “The Ink Stained Wretch” newsletter, and while I usually wait a week to post theese to my blog and socials I thought this needed to be up right away. It was absolutely horrific what happened to Rob Reiner and his wife Michele. But what a lasting positive impact he made on the world with the many incredible films he directed. He was a master storyteller. The world is a much poorer place without him. READ MORE

Here we go with another look back at what passed for my career with MAD Magazine! In this episode we have a gander at the first genuinely NEW piece I’d done for the interior of the magazine (not including tributes to deceased members of the Usual Gang of Idiots) since the movie parody of “The Batman” for MAD #28 AKA the 70th anniversary issue… TWO YEARS PRIOR. That’s right, MAD had a full on two years of essentially no new content and really almost four years if you exclude that anniversary issue. This issue was coming out right as the 2024 elections took place, so… READ MORE
