September 8th, 2016 | Posted in News

New York Comic Con is only a month away! I’ll be there in Artists Alley at table A6 with my usual plethora of crap for sale, including this NYCC exclusive 6″x9″ mini-print. I’m also going to have a new item available that I think people will really like, that will be available on the website as well. I am waiting for the proof to be delivered to be sure the print job is up to par… once I get that squared away I’ll let everyone know about it. Hope to see some of you at NYCC, Oct. 6-9th at the Javits Center! READ MORE

Final “Goodnight Batcave” Cover and a Review!

August 25th, 2016 | Posted in MAD Magazine

Last week I mentioned that the new MAD book I did with author Dave Croatto had the release date moved up to October 25th (formerly November 8th). In that post I mentioned that the cover of the book (and a couple of interior pages) that had previously been released as a preview were not the final artwork… those were “preview” images and ended up being tweaked before going to press. I also mentioned I could not show anyone the actual final cover art until it got formally released by the publisher. Well, Barnes and Noble have the final cover up on their order page for… READ MORE

ISCA Talk and Seminar in Phoenix

August 23rd, 2016 | Posted in News

Back in 1998 I became a member of a national organization of professional caricaturists called the National Caricaturists Network (NCN). I attended many of their annual convention and competitions, was honored with a couple of awards, and served as president of that organization in 2000 and 2001. Over the years other facets of life and work curbed my participation with that group, which has since evolved into the International Society of Caricaturists (ISCA) and gotten much bigger. However I have remained a member. I am going to be one of several speakers at this year’s ISCA Convention and Competition, taking place in Phoenix, AZ, November… READ MORE

Holy Sellout, Batman!

August 12th, 2016 | Posted in News

Well, almost. I thought I’d better post a public disservice announcement to say I have only 16 of these hand signed/numbered “Bats in the Belfry” limited edition prints left. That’s of a run of 450, and when they are gone, they’re gone… no reprints. I have a handful of extra prints (you always get a few more than you order) that I will make available as “artist proofs”, but it will essentially be “sold out” very soon… certainly by the end of the Wizard World Chicago Con I will be at next week. So, if you were thinking about getting one as a Christmas gift… READ MORE

An Invasion of Idiots is about to hit Omaha, Nebraska… The Usual Gang of Idiots that is. I’ll be joining longtime MAD artist and current VP of Art & Design (a fancy title for “Head Art Director”) Sam Viviano and longtime MAD writer Desmond Devlin, along with REALLY longtime MAD writer Dick Debartolo (via video) for a presentation and panel discussion on the storytelling aspects of MAD Magazine. It all happens at the Kaneko Building 1111 Jones St. in Omaha tomorrow, Friday Aug 12th, at 7:00 pm. Here’s the low (and I mean VERY low) down: KANEKO will host MAD About Storytelling, a discussion panel… READ MORE

MAD About the Comics Manifest Podcast

August 4th, 2016 | Posted in News

I’m a guest on the latest Comics Manifest podcast, a show dedicated to inspiring comics creators everywhere. My pal Eddie Pittman was a guest a few episodes ago. It’s a very uplifting and positive show, which is a refreshing change from the all-too-0ften snarky and negative interwebs. I enjoyed being interviewed by host Aaron Williams. Give it a listen.
