What, Me Sculpt?

December 10th, 2009 | Posted in General

I’m working on a very different project right now, designing political characters to be used as the basis of some 3D animation for a documentary film. This is WAY outside my comfort zone. You might think that since I draw caricatures of the same actors over and over in a MAD parody that it wouldn’t be that hard for me to draw a “turn around” of a caricature of someone. Not so. It’s a totally different animal to design a caricature that when rotated on an axis remains consistent in it’s proportions and exaggerations. The first character I was told to work on was former… READ MORE

Another Ancient Live Caricature Video

December 8th, 2009 | Posted in General

Yep, here’s yet another time lapse “live caricature” style example from my 1993 demo video… this time of Rhea Perlman, one of the cast of the legendary sitcom “Cheers”. Also regular blog readers will be happy to know I am almost to the end of that demo reel. 🙂 READ MORE

The cashier is a trainee (must be young and labeled as a trainee) and looks confused/apprehensive. 2. Initial Pencils: (posted… READ MORE

Studio 2.0

November 24th, 2009 | Posted in General

Whenever we have people over to the house inevitably they end up in my studio for a tour… all one room of it. Maybe it’s not the Taj Mahal but still for most people it’s a bit like a visit to a candy store… I have surrounded myself with a lot of cool stuff for inspiration and a generally creative atmosphere and tried to lay out the space for both maximum efficiency and functionality. Laymen marvel, women weep and fellow artists turn green with envy. I’ve been threatening to redo it for years now. Well, I finally pulled the trigger this fall and remodeled the… READ MORE
