Happy 100th Birthday, Lucy!

Lucille Ball would have been 100 years old today. She was arguably the biggest female television star in the history of the medium.

As well as one of the smartest producers of 20th century TV. If it weren’t for her (Desilu productions) we wouldn’t have Star Trek, The Andy Griffith Show, Mission: Impossible, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Lucy Show, My Three Sons, Family Affair, Make Room for Daddy, The Untouchables, I Spy, Whirlybirds, Harrigan and Son, Mannix, Wyatt Earp, Our Miss Brooks, The Real McCoys, Gomer Pyle, USMC, That Girl!!!! When she sold out to Paramount TV in the late 60’s, that gave them the ability to create and produce more tv shows, including Happy Days, Lavern and Shirly, Mork And Mindy, Cheers, Frasier, and on and on…

She wasn’t just funny, she was super smart! Thank you Lucy!

Damn! Thanks for all that info, I did not know that! She truly was an entertainment dynamo! I grew up with most of those shows too, and now I know it’s all because of a pretty redhead! Thanks again jjackle!

Tom, As soon as I clicked on the Mad Blog I knew who I was looking at! Yes it is her 100th b-day, but this piece does not look like your normal digital coloring? Looks like ink & watercolor? If it is digital,.. then god bless sir! Because it looks great! With this piece of the queen of comedy done by theeee modern day king of caricature, on her 100th birthday, the art world salutes you Tom! My wife love’s Lucy, will this print ever be available?

    • Tom says:

This is ink and watercolor. Done some years ago actually for a series of book ads.

      • Lee Fortuna says:

Would you ever consider selling signed prints of it? Would love to pick one up for my wife @ XMAS?
