Sunday Mailbag: Comic Con Commissions?

July 21st, 2019 | Posted in Mailbag

Q: If I send you a picture of my kids/grandpa/dog/boss/neighbors/etc can you do the same thing you do at comic-cons and mail it to me?

A: I get asked this all the time when I have a booth at a comic con, either when the person inquiring does not have a picture of the person they want drawn or I am already booked up for the show and they want it done anyway.

Unfortunately the type of commission I do at comic cons I ONLY do at comic cons. They are a cross between quick draw live caricatures and brush pen/marker drawings, and I don’t do those in the studio. I reserve that sort of things just for conventions… that makes it a more unique thing.

I do other types of commissions in the studio. These are far more elaborate and therefore more expensive. You can get all the details here.

Thanks to a lot of Comic-Con people for the question. If you have a question you want answered about cartooning, illustration, MAD Magazine, caricature or similar, e-mail me and I’ll try and answer it here!
