NCSFest Online!

September 8th, 2020 | Posted in News

I’ve been a member of the National Cartoonists Society since 1999, and served as president for 4 years from 2011 to 2015. Every year the NCS has its Reuben Award Weekend, where members get together for a few days to hang out, listen to panels and speakers, talk shop, eat and drink a lot, and enjoy the company of some of the greatest cartoonists (and people) on Planet Earth.

Like most other things in 2020, the annual Reuben Awards Weekend, that was to take place in Kansas City the first weekend in June, had to be cancelled. Here’s some art by me for the original member Reuben’s brochure:

But, like most other things in 2020, it’s going virtual!

This Saturday “NCSFest 2020” will be a FREE online event, with streaming speakers and panels featuring some of the biggest names in cartooning (The list in the image at the top of this post is mind-boggling), interspersed with the awarding of divisional “Silver Reuben” awards throughout the day. The event culminates in the bestowing of the Reuben Award for “Outstanding Cartoonist of the Year”, one of (if not THE) biggest honors in the cartooning world.

Toon in on Saturday for all the fun. A complete schedule of speakers and programs is available here. NCSFest 2020 will stream from the website NCSFEST.com starting at 10 am EST, Saturday, September 12th.

Best of all… if you miss any or all of it, the programming will be available on demand and for FREE after the event.
