Live Drawing Benefit Tomorrow!

January 31st, 2022 | Posted in News

This past fall I took over as president of the National Cartoonists Society Foundation, which is the charitable arm of the National Cartoonists Society proper. Among some of the initiatives we have in the works is a monthly live drawing event team-up with the folks at 4C Comics Live. 4C Comics has a YouTube channel where they conduct live drawing sessions with comic book artists sort of like a virtual comic con. Participants put in “claims” to request and pay for a drawing which the artist usually does right there on camera. Members of the NCF will be doing a live drawing event with 4C Comics every month and 100% of the proceeds will go to the NCS Foundation and it’s programs. The NCSF administers the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship, a grant that goes to an outstanding college cartoonist annually. They also have the “Cartooning for Kids” initiative, which gives art supplies and conducts cartoonists visits and workshops for the patients of children’s hospitals and their families all over the U.S., and the Milt Gross Fund, which helps cartoonists and their families in times of need and hardship. The NCSF also supports other educational and cartooning outreach programs.

I will be the first guinea pig to do one of these live events tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 1st at 7:00 EST. You can virtually attend the event and have (and watch) me draw a caricature of you, some famous person you choose or “Alfred E Neuman as…” some character with the money benefitting the NCSF!
