We interrupt the sharing of potentially useful or entertaining content on this blog for some shameless huckstering! This past weekend I added a bunch of original art for sale in The Studio Store. Included are some not so cheap original pages from MAD, but also a few relatively cheap sketches. Well… okay… it’s ALL overpriced but that goes without saying. The Kenosha Festival of Cartooning is back with real cartoonists as featured guests as opposed to the poser they had last year. Clicky to Embiggen… Comic book art legend Stan Sakai and his family are currently struggling to deal with the costs and challenges related to the health of his wife Sharon, who is fighting a brain tumor and needs constant medical care. The Comic Art Professionals Society (CAPS), a Southern California sister organization of the NCS, is organizing a benefit auction and the printing of a book, with all proceeds going to the Sakai’s. First, a reminder to all that the submissions for consideration for the National Cartoonists Society’s divisional awards are due on Saturday, Feb 15th! Here’s a list of all the divisions, the requirements for eligibility, and where to send the submissions. I’m pleased to say that the online divisions have been receiving a good number of submissions, which is terrific. Even better, we expanded the Online Comics Committee to include several other very knowledgeable and “plugged in” webcomics folks to help with the process.
