Last week Wednesday I was honored to be a guest speaker for “Pixar University” at the Pixar Animation Studios in Emeryville, CA! This all came about thank’s to Pixar’s Josh Cooley, whom I met many years ago when he was a guest speaker at the annual meeting of the National Cartoonists Society North Central Chapter. Josh was a Pixar story artist at the time and had just worked on “Up” and was then working on “The Incredibles 2”. I’m in the City by the Bay doing a workshop at the Cartoon Art Museum today through Sunday! I’ll be announcing my European workshop dates and locations later next week, as well as at least one more US one in the late summer. Back in late June I did a caricature workshop with 16 terrific artists in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. It was a great group, and we had a terrific weekend drawing and working together. Unfortunately the timing of the class was tough, because I was up against the print deadline for MAD #9, which included my “Once Upon a Time- Lousy Law” retro parody and the “Lion King” spoof. In fact The Lovely Anna spend the first day and a half seeing the sites of Amsterdam on her own while I was holed up in our AirBnB frantically trying to finish the last of the “Lion King”… READ MORE
