It’s that time of year again, the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Divisional Awards aka the “Silver Reubens” are gearing up, and they need your submissions for consideration. Each division has specific sets of eligibility criteria, but the following are universal: Must be professionally published between Dec 1, 2015 and Dec 31, 2016 Creator need not be an NCS member, but must be eligible for NCS membership (i.e. a professional cartoonist) The NCS has changed some of the procedures for this year, so please read the gudielines carefully. These are two images I did for an advertising campaign for a “car storage” company on the west coast in 2007. They were selling a service where they stored and pampered expensive cars for people. This is a good example of the type of bread and butter jobs freelancers do that are far from sexy but help pay the bills. READ MORE

I had to share these extremely cool photos of what my fellow Sherlockian David Haugen did with his limited edition Sherlock print… he managed to get ORIGINAL autographs of all eight Sherlocks depicted and added them to the matted and framed piece: Pretty impressive considering John Barrymore died in 1942, Basil Rathbone died in 1967, Peter Cushing died in 1994 and Jeremy Brett died in 1995. David told me the hardest one to get was Cushing, because of the Star Wars connection. Not surprising… Cushing is the hardest working dead actor in Hollywood. Anyway, I thought this was awesome.
