Sketch o’the Week: Ozzy Osbourne!

We have to pause our “Classic Comedians” series to do a tribute caricature to the recently passed “Godfather of Heavy Metal”, Ozzy Osbourne!
I was a serious metalhead in high school. In fact I was once briefly suspended from La Crescent High after an air band competition in which our band, “Eddie and the Back Doors” hid and ignited banned pyrotechnics during our set, scorching the ceiling of the cafeteria, filling the place with smoke, and causing the fire department to be called in. Our roadie Rob was a little overzealous with the flash powder. He graduated valedictorian of our class, by the way. The song we performed was Iron Maiden’s “The Number of the Beast”. We got disqualified from the competition, but we are still legend in La Crescent.
Anyway I was a huge fan of Ozzy, both from his “Black Sabbath” days and his solo music. I probably went through three or four cassette tapes of the “Diary of a Madman” album blasting it on my car stereo. I saw him in concert a couple of times, including once in 1983 (or was it ’84?) which involved a road trip to the Twin Cities with a bunch of high school pals from which I am pretty sure we are still on a Bloomington police wanted list.
