MADness #134.5: Dem Advent Calendar!

Here we go with another of the last few stumbling steps of my work for MAD Magazine. This was the second of the two pieces I did the art for in the “MAD 20 Dumbest People, Events, and Things of 2019”, and Advent calendar featuring potential 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, written by Amanda Stellberg and first published in MAD #11, Feb 2020. This was an easy two pager for me, as all I did was thirteen spot  illustration caricatures of various Democratic politicians. Here are the pencils and the individual spots:

This issue was really the beginning of the end for MAD. We had been told that there would be a “mix” of new and old material going forward, but I think what that really meant was “we are going to finish and print all the material we have already paid for, and then that’s it”. The next few issues did feature a handful of pages of new stuff, but within a few issues all that was new was the “Fold-In” and cover.

But we aren’t quite done yet! Toon in soon for a piece that was a real drag!
