Those MAD guys never tell me anything. I just learned via Big Shiny Robot that MAD not only has an official blog where they will be posting original content, but it’s been up and running since the beginning of May! According to MAD Magazine Editor John Ficarra: “Most blogs are written by ill-informed, untalented blowhards. Given those standards, it’s a perfect vehicle for us!” The blog is really not officially official yet, it’s in a kind of “soft launch” mode, but it is live and operational. Today at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference, the company unveiled a new feature for their upcoming iOs 5 mobile operating system called NewsStand: iOS 5 adds NewsStand, which is going to be huge for readers and publishers. Demoed at WWDC today, NewsStand looks just like the iBooks app but this is for Magazines and daily papers. Working a bit like the Kindle magazine system, News Stand will update your Magazines when they are published without any fiddling around by users. Warner Bros. Animation and the Cartoon Network just announced the release of Season One, Part One of MAD on DVD. The first 13 episodes will be included on the disc, to be available on September 20th. That should include many segments I worked on including “CSiCarly”, “uGlee”, “Ben Ten Franklin”, “The Batman Family Feud”, “Extreme Home Makeover: Fortress of Solitude Edition” and “Malcolm in Middle Earth”. In other CN MAD news, there will be a new episode on tonight with a segment in it I worked on called “The Big Fang Theory”. I’ll post some of that art tomorrow after the show airs this evening. This weekend is the 65th Annual National Cartoonists Society Reuben Weekend, being held this year in Boston, MA. I am off to the event early on Wednesday to help with some preliminary preparations and some NCS Board stuff, as I have been serving as one of the vice presidents for two years. I am sure it will be a great time as usual. It’s always fun to get together with some of the world’s most talented cartoonists, get to know everybody better, talk a little shop, stammer a bit when running into some cartooning legend I have admired for years, compliment people on the work… READ MORE
