In the last year or two I have been corresponding with a couple of terrific cartoonists from Europe named Jos?¬© Villena and David Tomaselli, who do a great and clever comic strip called Onion and Pea. They collected their work in a very cool, interactive ebook that I mentioned here before. Now Jos?¬© and David are putting together their first physical “Onion and Pea” book, and have launched an Indiegogo campaign to fund it. They are recently joined members of the NCS and attended their first Reubens this past May in San Diego where they shot a little video for their campaign…. you may… READ MORE

I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere is a podcast about the greater world of Sherlock Holmes, including his influence in any and all media. I guess they must have been running out of interesting guests, because they asked me to be on the latest episode which just got posted today. I guess they liked me, because we did the interview twice. Well, actually we did it a second time because the first one got lost in a hard drive meltdown. My Sherlock Holmes connection is mostly about my being a pseudo Sherlockian (real Sherlockians have to earn the title) and having done art for a Sherlock… READ MORE

This Saturday a real gem of a gallery show of original comic art opens at the Kenosha Public Museum in Kenosha, WI… and when I say a “gem” I really mean it. The show is an extension of the Kenosha Festival of Cartooning, an annual weekend featuring guest cartoonists doing panels, presentation, workshops and meet and greets organized by Anne Hambrock. Anne’s husband John is a cartoonist who does the syndicated daily strip “The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee”, and the Hambrocks live in the picturesque little town of Kenosha on the shores of Lake Michigan. This is why this small Wisconsin town hosts some… READ MORE

This weekend is the big National Cartoonists Society Reuben Award Weekend in San Diego, where between 200-300 cartoonists will get together and eat, drink, be merry, and honor their fellow cartoonists with various awards. This year, we’ll be honoring some other folks as well… those that have served our country in the military. Those who follow this blog will know I have been privileged to have been a part of several USO cartoonist tours to visit both wounded warriors and serving active military personnel in places like Germany, Kuwait, Iraq, Afghanistan and other locations both in and out of war zones. Our groups meet and… READ MORE
