I’m going to be one of the artists featured on the next episode, airing this Sunday on TCT 2 and 6:00 and 10:00 pm. Picture courtesty of Celestia Ward Yesterday’s “Glenn-efit” event at the Downtown Crown Pub in Las Vegas was a big success, raising over $1500 to benefit our good friends Glenn and JoAnn Ferguson as they begin the long road to Glenn’s recovery and rehabilitation from his injuries. I drew alongside some terrific local Las Vegas caricaturists like Doug Citizen, Andrew Taylor, Robert Sundini, and I think a few others jumped in and did a couple of drawings as well. It’s that time of year again, the National Cartoonists Society’s annual Divisional Awards aka the “Silver Reubens” are gearing up, and they need your submissions for consideration. Each division has specific sets of eligibility criteria, but the following are universal: Must be professionally published between Dec 1, 2014 and Dec 31, 2015 Creator need not be an NCS member, but must be eligible for NCS membership (i.e. a professional cartoonist) Last year the NCS broke new ground by having it’s entire membership vote for most divisional categories online, which proved pretty time consuming considering some divisions had up to 50 entries. Every year the National Cartoonists Society bestows the Jay Kennedy Memorial Scholarship to one talented college student pursuing a career in cartooning. This might mean comic books, animation, graphic novels, editorial… any cartooning discipline is welcome. The scholarship award is a cool five grand and a free trip to the NCS Reuben Awards where the recipient gets lauded by a whole hotel full of professional cartoonists! Great, right?!
