While Number One Son Thomas went to varied World of Warcraft/Halo/Gaming panels I signed copies of MAD and did sketches at the DC Comics booth with fellow MAD man John Kovaleski and did caricatures and pimped some MAD originals at the NCS booth. The official press release on this show was just sent out so I believe it’s now appropriate to promote my art show at “The ToonSeum” that starts on August 1st. I have had a piece or two of my original work hung in cartoon art shows quite a few time, but have never had a show entirely of my work hanging anywhere before. I received an interesting recent e-mail from a gentleman named Jos?¬© Gonz?¬?lez aka “Pepe Badillo”, a cartoonist from Mexico. He wanted to tell me about the 41st anniversary of the first issue of Nausea, a “Mexican comic magazine inspired in MAD Magazine” that he and his friend, writer Emilio Esquivel, published for 12 issues from June 1968 to June 1970. Jos?¬© was one of only three artists working with Emilio producing the magazine, which he says doing was the fulfillment of a dream. Main menu… About a year ago I did a job for a movie company called RG Entertainment and their film “Super Capers“, which you can read all about here and here and here. This winter, director Ray Griggs commissioned me to adapt a script he had written into a promotional comic book for the movie’s release, which I worked on with my pal and comic book superstar artist/inker Tom Nguyen (in record time, as usual) and which was given away at WonderCon in San Fransisco.
