Looks like the guys at MAD are already running out of good material for their Official Blog, The Idiotical… they are resorting to featuring me as their “Artist Spotlight”! Actually the MAD gang are really pulling out the stops for The Idiotical. This is no afterthought. They constantly update with daily (and often multiple times per day) content that is a combination of original stuff, classic MAD bits, peeks at current content from the magazine and other fun garbage. They have recurring original features as well, like this “artist spotlight” thing. I wonder if my being featured this week has anything to do with that… READ MORE
As promised, here is a peek at the MAD parody of the TV Show Mike & Molly, written by Arnie Kogen! Clicky to Embiggen Sharp-eyed people might notice the absence of empty word balloons that usually adorn my MAD artwork. I could tell you WHY the folks at MAD have decreed I am no longer allowed to draw in and color around said word boxes . . . but then I’d have to kill you. One day I will be able to tell that story. Comic Book Resources recently published an all-MAD edition of their enjoyable “Comic Book Legends Revealed” feature. In it, they tackle three legends (or myths if you prefer) about MAD: Alfred E. Neuman existed well before Mad Magazine ever came about. Mad Magazine used to sell actual straight jackets! Every Mad cover has an easter egg of the letters “ind” to form “Mad Mind”. Check it out here! They even linked back to one of my posts here on The MAD Blog concerning legend number one (Thanks, CBR!), but they also debunk my explanation of the “ind” legend… you decide which explanation is true.
