Illustration Throwback Thursday #82: New Delhi Con Poster!

December 3rd, 2020 | Posted in Illustration Throwback Thursday

Back in 2016 I was a guest at the New Delhi Comic Con in Okhla, South New Delhi. I spent three days at the con signing stuff, doing drawings and made a presentation on Sunday. I did the above illustration as a Delhi Comic Con exclusive for the show. It’s an imaginary MAD cover featuring Alfred as the title character from the Bollywood film “Enthiran” (“Robot” in English) starring a well-known and loved actor in India, Rajinikanth. If you’ve never seen the movie “Enthiran”, it’s got some crazy special effects that will blow you away. READ MORE

Back in 2018 I did the pencils/inks on this 48 page comic for Sitcomics called “Z-People”. It’s a humorous story about a zombie apocalypse. Here’s the cover, an alternate cover and a few sample pages. Written by Darrin Henry. READ MORE

Illustration Throwback Thursday: Jeff Dunham!

I’ve done a lot of work for superstar comedian Jeff Dunham over the years, from illustrations for his products to helping design some of his dummies. I did this logo/letterhead illustration for Jeff earlier this year. READ MORE

Illustration Throwback Thursday- Palm Sketches

September 10th, 2020 | Posted in Illustration Throwback Thursday

These are a few drawings I did this back in 2014 for a company that provides all the artwork for the Palm restaurants around the country. If you’ve never been to a Palm, it’s a restaurant with the walls covered in cartoons, caricatures and illustrations depicting famous people from the area, patrons, etc. as well as general gags and humor. These gags were suggested to me, so don’t blame me for the cheesecake ones. I did them as concepts for possible inclusion on the walls of the redesigned Palm in L.A. I have no idea if any of them actually made the walls down there. READ MORE

Illustration Throwback Thursday- Sherlock!

September 3rd, 2020 | Posted in Illustration Throwback Thursday

Back in 2007 I did this illustration of Sherlock Holmes for a series of audiobooks of the original Sir Arthur Conan Doyle stories, read by David Ian Davies. They are still available on Audible.com. The likeness is loosely based on Basil Rathbone but not really… it is more my idea of what I think Holmes would look like. David also produced a sculpted pen based on my drawing, which I thought turned out pretty cool: READ MORE

Illustration Throwback Thursday- Fade In!

August 20th, 2020 | Posted in Illustration Throwback Thursday

These are a full page and series of spot illustrations I did for the now-defunct Fade In magazine, a movie industry publication, back in 2008. The story was about how some big movie studio executives rated with writers, directors and other creative folks from their films. The article asked numerous, high-level, creative types to share their experience working with then current studio regimes around town. The spot illustrations below are caricatures of actual studio executives that were working at the time. I don’t remember their names. READ MORE

Illustration Throwback Thursday: Achmed Jr!

July 30th, 2020 | Posted in Illustration Throwback Thursday

Back in 2011 I helped superstar ventriloquist Jeff Dunham design a new dummy for his show. The character was the son of his popular “Achmed the Dead Terrorist” character, named “A.J.” aka “Achmed Jr., the Almost Dead Terrorist”. The idea was that he was supposed to be a typical smart ass teenager who wasn’t quite dead and isn’t really interested in being a terrorist, which exasperates his father. Here’s some of the other art from the process: I’ve actually done a number of concept designs for Jeff, but only a few have actually become parts of his act. He has a lot of ideas for… READ MORE
