First Doctor Final Art

Next week is the big debut of my new limited edition print of all 13 actors who have “offically” played the Doctor in “Doctor Who”, and will be titled “The Doctor Will See You Now”. Here’s the finished version of the first Doctor, William Hartnell. Both he and the second Doctor will be in black and white, while the rest will be in color. Done in pen, brush and ink with digital washes. The limited edition print will be hand signed and numbered 1 to 450 of 450, and will be priced at $25. Q: Has a director ever asked MAD Magazine to do a parody of their movie? Or have you guys only ever picked films to do parodies on of your own volition? A: I don’t know of any specific examples, but I have been told by some of the longtime Usual Gang of Idiots that more than a few movies studios/production companies would send MAD materials on their films to try and get them to do a parody of it. Comic-Cons and Commissions

The Lovely Anna and I just returned from the Wizard World Chicago Comic Con, where we had a busy but fun time. I only do a handful of conventions a year: the San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Cons are the only ones I get on an airplane for. Then I do both the Wizard World and C2E2 shows in Chicago because that is a reasonable 7 hour drive from here. It happens to live caricaturists all the time the world over… you flip the drawing over to show it to your customer/model and their response is “I look like I’m pissed off!” It’s hard to explain to someone that, when they aren’t actively smiling, certain faces just look that way, and when you exaggerate features they tend to look even more “that way”.
