Clicky to Embiggen... As promised, the final art for that workplace poster I posted the rough sketch of yesterday. If anybody is interested, here is the copy that accompanies the image: T E A M W O R K It’s a combination of first-class individual strength and effort … mutual support and encouragement … and a willingness to go down to the mat for the camaraderie and good morale that build success. That’s what these workplace posters I am always doing are… messages about teamwork, customer service, stress management and similar concepts with a humorous (hopefully) image to help make the point. I have been… READ MORE
I’ve been terrible about updating the other areas of my website lately (for the last two years, actually), but this weekend I finally got around to updating my Portfolio, MAD Art and especially the Me Gallery. If you have never visited the Me Gallery, you are in for a treat. For the last 13 years, I have been collecting caricatures of myself done by different caricaturists from all over the world. At the beginning most were from other members of the International Society of Caricature Artists (formerly the National Caricaturists Network) done at their annual convention. However after I started to post them on my… READ MORE
Art by Ed Steckley Last weekend I was privileged to attend the first annual Wyakin Warriors Guardians Ball in lovely Boise, ID. The evening was sold out, and a great success. It’s always fun to get together with other cartoonists, and in support of such a great cause made it even more enjoyable. The Wyakin Warriors Foundation is an organization dedicated to providing support to wounded warriors through college education, placement, mentorships and other programs. They provide these brave veterans: A full, four-year scholarship (including room, board, books, tutoring, and living expenses). A custom, one-on-one, multi-layered mentoring program by the nation’s top leaders in business,… READ MORE
There is still time, but it’s running out. Anyone wanting to get their copy shipped internationally (except Canada) in time for Christmas, you might already be out of luck. While the U.S. Post Office claims the delivery time of an International Priority package is 6-10 business days, customs in the destination countries have been known to randomly hold a package for weeks before deciding to let it continue to its intended recipient. So, at best it would have to be ordered this week and shipped by Dec. 10th or so, and then there’s no guarantee when it comes to the whims of the recipient county’s… READ MORE
Art by Ed Steckley I’m headed to Boise, ID today to speak at the the inaugural, black tie Wyakin Warrior Guardian Ball, a fundraiser for the Wyakin Warrior Foundation. In Native American mythology, a¬¨‚Ć “Wyakin” is a spiritual guide that advises and protects a person throughout life. The Wyakin Warrior Foundation follows in its namesake’s footsteps, providing a college education, mentoring, job-placement networking and other forms of support both financial and personal to wounded veterans of our armed forces. It was founded by Jeff Bacon, a retired Navy captain, cartoonist and creator of the comic Broadside, and the gentlemen responsible (or perhaps to blame) for… READ MORE
I received this email the other day from reader Randy Arnold: I know you keep up on things like this, but just in case you didn’t know Adobe is changing their upgrade policy. This is where I found out. I believe you have mentioned you are using CS3 now and it is probably like your favorite pen and you may not care to upgrade.¬¨‚Ć Wouldn’t mind hearing…seeing…reading your opinion on upgrading software on your blog. This from Adobe on their new upgrade policy: “Special upgrade offer for CS3 and CS4 customers. Take advantage of our special introductory upgrade pricing on Creative Suite 6 for customers… READ MORE
After a few brutal deadline jobs earlier this month, I am steaming full ahead on completing all the Limited Artist’s Editions of my book that have been ordered. Many thanks to those who placed an order for one, I should be caught up and all shipped by the end of next week. For anyone not familiar with this one-time offer, I am doing a series of 120 Limited Artist’s Editions of my book, The Mad Art of Caricature! In it I draw a caricature of YOU (or whoever you send me pictures of) from your photos, and the book is signed and hand numbered on… READ MORE
