The Dark Knight…
… I’ll write a review later. All I can say is if you think there is no way this movie could live up to the hype… think again. Heath Ledger will get an Oscar nod for his Joker… and he might even win. READ MORE

Getting Pulled Over on the Information Superhighway Dept. Image from “How to Draw Caricatures” video series by Expert Village There are a lot of “How To” videos on YouTube and around the internet, but I think you would be hard pressed to find a more worthless, and it turns out downright criminal, series than “How To Draw Caricatures” by Expert Village. Expert Village is a website that is a kind of YouTube community for how-to video clips. You can register and an “expert” or as a “filmmaker”, and then you can be put in touch with others in your area who might be interested in… READ MORE
Oddly quiet on the freelance front right now, with just a few projects in the works… one that I can share at this time. Gaming Website Images- On the final images for this job right now… it’s been a long road. One multiple layered/partially animated gaming environment, game play objects and element, sixteen different player avatars in multiple poses. Hopefully this game will go online soon and I can see it all in action. Workplace poster- my usual assignment Super Capers- wrapping up the 14 ‘turnaround’ character images. School Library Journal- This was a last second job with a tight deadline that I recently completed,… READ MORE
From an old sketch o’the week… I was reading CNN the other day and ran across this article entitled “Dealing with Jerks at your Gym”. It was an accurate portrayal of what big fitness centers are like… both in the actual problems they have and in the way things that should not be problems become so because of the stupidity and selfishness of the human race. I used to belong to a big club in Eagan, Minnesota called Lifetime Fitness. That’s where I really got back into weightlifting and I worked out there for about 5 years before I’d had enough and moved on to… READ MORE
Recently I came across a few rough sketches that I did to work up some of my theme park caricature samples some years ago. In a pinch (meaning when I don’t have time to do anything new for the Wednesday “sketch o’the week”) I will post one of these along with the resulting finished theme park sample. These are often very rough and loose. Here’s an early draft of my David Letterman sample. Notice in the final I made some changes to his overall head shape, especially in his forehead and brow, which made for a much more effective likeness. READ MORE
I have to admit I was pretty stoked to get assigned the art chores on MAD‘s parody of “Iron Man“, as it was one of the movies I was looking the most forward to seeing this summer. I saw it twice (on opening day) as I usually do when drawing the parody… once to just watch it and once to study it for the parody. I sometimes see it a third time once I have read the script so I can pay special attention to the visuals during scenes I know are going to correspond to panels in the parody. While I didn’t make it… READ MORE
Used with permission Big news on the Orphan Works front today. The House version, H.R. 5889, may go before the US House Judiciary Committee this week for mark up. This is a process where the the Judicary Committee reviews a bill and then considers any ammendments to it prior to it’s being sent to the floor for full House consideration. Now would be a good time to act if you have been procrastinating on this issue. Here is a correspondence sent out from the National Cartoonist Society today: PLEASE TAKE A FEW MINUTES TO READ THIS?¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ” AND THEN ACT ON IT. YOUR COPYRIGHTS AND FUTURE… READ MORE
