I¬¨‚Ćwas inspired in my selection of this week’s SotW subject when I saw this caricature done by artist Rodney Pike on Facebook today. Rodney is a master of photo-manipulation caricature, something he is able to pull off when many people who attempt to do the same thing can’t reconcile the photo elements and the painted elements to create a cohesive whole. Here’s a couple of great podcast links for your enjoyment: I Hear of Sherlock Everywhere with Scott Monty and Burt Wolder is “The podcast for those interested in the life and times of Mr. Sherlock Holmes – where it is always 1895”. This episode features an interview with David Ian Davies, the super-talented voice actor who recorded by favorite unabridged audiobook collection of the entire Sherlock Holmes canon, which I did the cover art for. Q: Taxes… Even though I have been a full time caricature artist for over 12 years, this is a major area that I have regretfully been lazy in researching and acquiring the proper knowledge base that I should probably have….¬¨‚Ć Like a lot of caricature artist I make the majority of my living as an independent contractor, I also do some freelance on the side but very little… I do not have a CPA and I am not incorporated, as a result I probably pay too much…. This week’s SotW subject is The Walking Dead‘s Andrew Lincoln. I started watching this show this year after several friends recommended it, so it has the rare distinction of being the only show I actually watch on TV without having been assigned the parody for MAD. I am sure the creators of the show are thrilled about this honor 🙄 . I have been enjoying the show, which just wrapped it’s second season on Sunday. They have managed to avoid the obvious pittfalls of serials based on action/horrow/sci-fi premises wherein viewers get bored when there is too much talking and not enough stuff like zombies.… READ MORE
