Q: Have you every been congratulated on a caricature of a celebrity, say Denzel Washington, Mick Jagger or Lindsay Lohan, only the actual caricature in question was someone entirely different (Larry Fishburn, Steve Tyler or Liz Taylor respectively)? A: Yes, that’s happened a few times, mostly with regard to caricatures I have hanging up as samples on the walls of my theme park caricature booths. I recounted one particularly funny story about a mistaken caricature subject here. The other I remember was this one: Granted, not the best caricature of Mick Jagger ever (it’s 15 years old now), but it was constantly being referred to… READ MORE

I’d love to say I’m doing a review of this new Wacom Cintiq 13HD “portable” unit because I was sent one by Wacom to test drive, but they don’t return my phone calls. sooooo…. I only know what I’ve read like most of the rest of the world. However, I am a veteran of using 4 different models of the Cintiq (five if you include borrowing a pal’s original Cintiq 15sx to do a job when I was on vacation), including the 12wx which I did review hands on, so after seeing the specs of this new model I can safely make some recommendations… READ MORE

Workplace Poster– My usual monthly assignment. Advertising Illustration– This is a really time consuming but interesting project for the back of a film industry publication. It features caricatures of 60 plus people who work for this movie industry company, and it is a spoof of… READ MORE

If you are lucky enough to be in NYC tonight, no doubt you’ll be at the Society of Illustrators at 6:30 PM for the inevitably fantastic panel discussion on the life and work of Harvey Kurtzman with Drew Friedman, Robert Grossman, Al Jaffee, and Arnold Roth, moderated by Peter Kuper. That is, if you bought a ticket. If you show up and you don’t have a ticket, you’re a schmuck. If you are like me, and stuck in the frozen wastelands of the country, then you can at least get a little taste of the action by listening to Drew, Arnie, and Al on the… READ MORE
