Sketch o’the Week- Maisie Williams

July 3rd, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

I thought about doing a series of caricatures from the show “Game of Thrones” for a while, but I don’t know if I can anymore. After seeing Hermann Mejia‘s brilliant artwork in the parody of the show in MAD #521, I might not be able to be objective in my versions of the characters. Here’s another one from the show, though… Maisie Williams who plays Arya Stark. READ MORE

I’m down to about the last two dozen of my Limited Artist’s Editions of The Mad Art of Caricature! You know, the limited-to-120 editions with the handsome, hand-numbered bookplate and the caricature of YOU (or whomever you want) drawn by me! Please excuse the shameless plug today, but I’m hoping to close the book on this sometime soon. If you or anyone you know might want one, now’s the time! Here are some examples of how they turn out: The Pics… The Drawing! The pics… The drawing! The pics… The drawing! The pics… The drawing! The pics… ¬¨‚ĆThe drawing! The pics… The drawing! Q: What the hell is Max Korn? Even if you don’t wanna tell do you actually know, or do any of the old timers at MAD actually know.. or do they pretend to? A: Ah… the mystery of “Max Korn”. For those who are not MAD aficionados, the name “Max Korn” began to show up as a sort of “Easter egg” drawn or written into the pages of MAD here and there… I am not sure exactly when it started, but I think sometime in the mid to late 80’s. “Max Korn” is even listed in Urban Dictionary, where the definition says: Max Korn a… READ MORE

The digital version of the MAD Superman Special is available for purchase via the MAD iPad app (including a nifty animated version of my cover which justifies all that work I did on the cityscape). What’s more, according to the above announcement within that very downloaded collection of dreck the first 23 issues of MAD are also now available through the app or Comixology. I haven’t actually tried to see if I can download them, but they are either ready to go or obviously on the way soon! fa fa fa! READ MORE

Sketch o’the Week- Peter Dinklage

June 26th, 2013 | Posted in Sketch O'The Week

This week’s subject is “Game of Thrones” star Peter Dinklage. I’ve never read any George R.R. Martin books, but I have been watching GoT, and it’s a very entertaining show… although I must admit I am having a hard time remembering all the %$#*^ names of the characters. READ MORE

MAD Art for Kenosha Festival of Cartooning

June 25th, 2013 | Posted in News

The last two years the small but picturesque town of Kenosha, Wis. has been host to a very impressive cartooning event called, appropriately enough, the Kenosha Festival of Cartooning. Kenosha happens to be the hometown of cartoonist John Hambrock (The Brilliant Mind of Edison Lee), and his wife Anne is the driving force behind these terrific events. Previous years (2011 and 2012) featured stellar speaker lineups including the afore mentioned John Hambrock, Dave Coverly (Speed Bump), Greg Cravens (The Buckets, Hubris!), Norm Feuti (Retail, Gil), Michael Jantze (The Norm, Jantze Studios), Stephan Pastis (Pearls Before Swine), Hilary Price (Rhymes with Orange), Between Friends creator Sandra… READ MORE
