April 1st is officially Alfred E, Neuman’s birthday, so what better day to issue an update to the MAD iPad app? The app sports an all new design… for those using iOs 7 or higher, anyway. I had a chance to play around with it today and I like the new layout and especially the organization of the “Issues” menu page. You now have three different sections: All– This was previously all you had in the old design under “Issues”. It lists every issue, book or special available for download or purchase. Q: I’ve read several “how-to” articles on inking comics – including your excellent 2-part inking tutorial -¬¨‚Ä† and there is great information out there. However, what I am having trouble finding is how an artist should care for their brushes and pens. Not only when one is done working with them for the day, but, also what to do with the tools during the actual inking process? For example: are you constantly swirling your brush in a cup of water in-between strokes? Does water work for cleaning permanent ink – or is something else needed? A: Great question. The New NCS Website and More!

I just wanted to say a few more things about the fantastic new National Cartoonists Society website that just went live in the wee hours this morning. The design and programming were done by the very talented Joe McGarry, and alone with the new look comes a lot of news about the NCS and it’s continuing foray into cyberspace.
