Q: How did you get into art and decide to make a career out of it? Who were your inspirations? A: I can quite honestly day that I’ve never wanted to be anything but an artist. Later this month the National Cartoonists Society will be having their annual Reuben Awards Weekend in Memphis, and there will be a very special event taking place on Thursday the 26th. The NCS Foundation and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will be hosting a fundraiser and auction that evening to benefit St. Jude and the incredible work they do, which will feature over 20 big name cartoonists (and me). Getting new, fresh samples on the walls of my theme park operations was always a challenge… especially since I spent most of my free time doing freelance work. So, since much of my freelancing had to do with caricature, I would often convert the caricatures I did for various jobs into samples for the parks. I did this illustration that is the the May issue of Sports Illustrated Kids. It illustrates some of the funniest (and oddest) sports injuries ever. For example, the Baltimore Orioles’ Marty Cordova once fell asleep in a tanning bed and sunburned his face so badly he missed playing time. READ MORE
