Q: What do you think you’d be doing for a living if you were not an artist? A: I get this question now and then, but I’ve never really had a good answer for it because all I’ve ever want to be was an artist. However, I was thinking about that subject while walking the dogs the other day (all great thinking is done either in the shower or while walking the dog) and it occurred to me I do have an answer: I’d want to be a writer. A novelist, short story or kids book author, TV or film script writer…I wouldn’t be picky.… READ MORE

In honor of those who have fallen in defense of our country and our freedoms, here’s a link to my recap of the first “downrange” USO trip of National Cartoonist Society cartoonists since the Vietnam War. I was lucky to be part of a group that included Jeff Bacon, Chip Bok, Bruce Higdon, Jeff Keane, Rick Kirkman, Stephan Pastis, Mike Peters, Michael Ramirez, and Garry Trudeau. Proud to have been part of that team, which traveled to draw for wounded warriors in Germany and then on to Iraq to draw for troops deployed in the war zone. Remember our fallen heroes today… and every day. READ MORE

Q: How important is it that I go to art school if I want to be a cartoonist? A: I wrote a lengthy blog post about this not that long ago.
