Both of my early 2018 workshops in L.A. and Atlanta are completely sold out, but if you want to be added to the wait list for either let me know. I often get at least one person who backs out, and those spots are offered to the first person on the wait list and on down. There are still some spaces available in my Toronto workshop in June and the one in Switzerland in August. I’m working on adding some additional dates and locations in 2018. Still considering Dallas, Portland, Washington DC, Chicago and others. Keep checking my workshop page for more details! READ MORE

Superman and the Miserable, Horrible, No Good, Really Bad Day is officially released! Here is a picture of it in the wild, in a bookstore in Spokane: It’s available in fine (and dodgy) bookstores and comic book shops everywhere, on Amazon.com and other online retailers, and signed copies or ones with a sketch of the Man of Steel himself are available in the Studio Store. Yes, it is quite appropriate for young kids, while adults will get some of the more subtle humor as well… kind of like Sesame Street. Here’s a couple of other sneak peek images from the book : READ MORE

I’m still traveling abroad so this week’s Sketch o’the Week are some very quick digital sketches of three of the stars of the TV show “Better Call Saul”: Bob Odenkirk, Rhea Seehorn and Michael Mando. These were done as class warmups at one of my workshops. What I do is ask the class for a show or film as our warm up subject, then I do a websearch for some of the actors on the show and we do quick warmup drawings, so no one knows what’s coming. 5-10 minutes max. I’ve included the references we drew from: READ MORE

I just wrapped up participating in The Lakes International Comic Arts Festival, which was held Oct 13-15th in Kendal, Cumbria, U.K. This was the 5th year of the festival, and the first I have attended. It was a marvelous time and a very unique type of event. Much of the lovely town of Kendal was taken over by the Festival, with window/storefront displays and events all over the village. The main theater at the Brewery Arts Centre LICAF is not a comic con, it is a celebration of the art and writing in comics, both past and present. Yes, it has a “dealers room” of… READ MORE

One of the highlights of the Lakes International Comic Art Festival for me was the “MAD Vs. Viz” panel featuring the one and only Sergio Aragonés and myself representing MAD, and the very funny Graham Dury and Simon Thorp from the British humor magazine Viz, moderated by John McShane. John interviews Sergio and Graham Viz is a hilarious publication featuring a compilation of short comics by various creators, fake ads, parodies of tabloids and letters pages, and other features. It was founded in 1979, and at one time was the third biggest selling magazine in all of Britain. Its humor is often raunchy and politically… READ MORE

Q: In the description of you for the Lakes Comics Festival, it calls you “the world’s greatest living caricaturist”. Seriously? Do you really believe that? A: I take it you assume I wrote that blurb, or that I even saw it to approve it before it was plastered all over the promotional materials for the show. You don’t know much about how these kinds of things work and the hyperbole sometimes used. I didn’t see that until they started making big announcements about the festival and by then it was too late to do anything about it. I was quite embarrassed and had I been… READ MORE
