I figured I might have to add the name of the 60’s Batman villain these actors portrayed since the name recognition on many has been lost a bit in the 50 years since the show was on the air… This is David Wayne and the Mad Hatter… original available in the Studio Store. Bat Facts: David Wayne appeared in more films with Marilyn Monroe than any other actor… four in total: As Young as You Feel (1951), We’re Not Married (1952), O. I just finished about 6 weeks of nonstop deadlines, workshops and travel… so this week on Tom’s Mad Blog I’m just going to shut up and draw a bunch of 60’s Batman villains. Here’s a sketch of the stunning Eartha Kitt as “Catwoman”. Original available in the Studio Store if you are interested. BatFacts: Eartha Kitt took over the role of Catwoman for the third and final season of Batman. The reason for this, according to Kitt’s first episode screenwriter Stanley Ralph Ross was “because Julie was doing a movie at the time. I think it was “McKenna’s Gold”. READ MORE

I usually don’t scan the full sized pencil from a movie/TV parody in MAD, since I do the roughs at print size and then get all the review/approval/direction at that stage. For some reason I have the full page scans of the final pencils for the complete movie parody “Spider-Sham Too” from MAD #446, October 2004, written by Dick DeBartolo. Q: In your book you are describing the sequence you are foll0wing doing life caricatures. Do you also have a sequence for the coloring with the airbrush, after the pencil drawing is finished (concerning areas and/or used colors)?
