Sketch week continues with Victor Buono aka “King Tut” from the 60’s Batman TV show. Original available in the Studio Store. Bat Facts: The Batman cover issue of TV Guide announced that Robert Morely was scheduled to play King Tut, which turned out to be completely unfounded. READ MORE
This makes sense considering I was asked to do traditional comic book style word balloons and have a more “comic book” feel in my latest MAD parody work. It was also an early rumor they were going back to the original comic book format.. READ MORE
I figured I might have to add the name of the 60’s Batman villain these actors portrayed since the name recognition on many has been lost a bit in the 50 years since the show was on the air… This is David Wayne and the Mad Hatter… original available in the Studio Store. Bat Facts: David Wayne appeared in more films with Marilyn Monroe than any other actor… four in total: As Young as You Feel (1951), We’re Not Married (1952), O. For some reason I have the full page scans of the final pencils for the complete movie parody “Spider-Sham Too” from MAD #446, October 2004, written by Dick DeBartolo. So, here are examples of my finished pencils, done on bristol board at 200% of print size, over which I then ink and scan to color (clicky any to embiggen): READ MORE

Do you also have a sequence for the coloring with the airbrush, after the pencil drawing is finished (concerning areas and/or used colors)? Do you still stick to the sequence when doing digital life caricatures? A: I’ve actually been meaning to post a tutorial on live caricature airbrushing but have never gotten around to it. The following is something I put together years ago to show the basic process. I use a different process for digital color, though… this is just for airbrushing live caricatures. The colors are for a… READ MORE
