We are getting increasingly more obscure with our run of 60’s Batvillians. Here’s Anne Baxter as “Olga, Queen of Cossacks” from the third season of “Batman”. As always, the original is available in the Studio Store. Bat Facts: While this was Olga’s only appearance on the series, Anne Baxter had another appearance. Some MAD Birthdays! Al and Sam!

Illustrations done for CNN, circa 2011 Wishing a happy birthday today to two of my artistic heroes! Longtime MAD artist and MAD‘s art director for over two decades, Sam Viviano has been a real mentor to me for twenty plus years. Sam is 65 today! That’s barely out of diapers compared to the other birthday boy. Al Jaffee is 97 years old today. He just completed yet another fold-in job for MAD, where his artwork has appeared in 500 of the 550 published issues. I don’t throw the term “genius” around lightly, but in Al’s case the shoe fits. New Workshop Scheduled: Portland OR!

Above: Class illustration from my recent workshop in Los Angeles Hey Northwest U.S. artists! Announcing one of my three day caricature workshops in Portland OR! The dates are Fri June 29th to Sun July 1st. The workshop will be taking place in the Wacom Experience Center at Wacom headquarters. This is a great space and best of all Wacom will be providing digital equipment for students to use if desired. As a result I’ll be spending a little more time demoing and teaching my digital coloring techniques than I usually do at these workshops. Stuff from my Studio: Me Sculptures!

These two sculptured caricatures of me that adorn my studio shelves are by some insanely talented friends of mine. The top one is by Celestia Ward, who along with husband Robert Sundin III (a.k.a. Sundini) own Two Head Studios and are prominent caricaturists in the Las Vegas area. Celestia does 2D and 3D work, among a lot of other creative endeavors. If her name seems familiar to you (and you have read my book The Mad Art of Caricature) that’s because she was that book’s editor!! She did this sculpture for my 35th birthday in 2001.
