Better late then never, even on a Monday! Here we go with yet another step along the seemingly never ending path that was my work for MAD Magazine. Today’s episode is the second half of the work I did for MAD #548 (Dec 2017), which was the companion cover for the “Stranger Things:” spoof I also did the art for in this issue. I thought I should pick a “Famous Movie Moment” that doesn’t feature some guy or guys with a gun, and draw a female character… but in retrospect this choice might be even more male-centric than the tough guy scenes I’ve been doing. However I’m not going to apologize for getting to draw the beautiful Ursula Andress as “Honey Ryder” in her emerging from the sea scene in “Dr. No”. Clicky to Embiggen… Here we go with another ridiculous look back at my work for MAD Magazine! We are getting very close to the end of the New York MAD run… only two more issues after this one, MAD #548, which featured Desmond Devlin and my spoof of “Stranger Things” (I also did the cover, but that is for next week). Last weekend The Lovely Anna and I travelled to Stockbridge, MA for the opening of “What Me Worry? The Art and Humor of MAD Magazine”, an exhibit of original art from the pages of MAD spanning the magazine’s entire 72 year history hanging at the Norman Rockwell Museum. I’ve been to a few exhibits of MAD art, and while they have all been good this one is by far the most comprehensive and complete. Usually these exhibits concentrate on certain eras of MAD, often the early Harvey Kurtzman comic book era or the Al Feldstein years where the format of the magazine is most familiar… READ MORE

It’s time for another “Famous Movie Moment” caricature sketch! This week’s moment features a young Clint Eastwood in the 1971 film “Dirty Harry” when he utters his famous line ““You’ve got to ask yourself one question: ‘Do I feel lucky?’. Well, do ya, punk?”. The film was a huge box office success and spawned four sequels. It is also often credited as inspiring a whole genre of films centered on an “unorthodox, violent, alienated cop” theme. READ MORE

If you watched the Sonoma NASCAR race event this past weekend you may have seen some of my work on display. TBS had me do a “NASCAR” version of the stars of “Impractical Jokers” using the same caricatures I did for last season’s key art, because James “Murr” Murray was the honorary Grand Marshall of the race. Here we go with another another “Famous Movie Moment” sketch! This week’s subject is the “I’m going to make him an offer he can’t refuse” scene from 1972’s “The Godfather”. Everyone knows this scene. It’s one of the most famous lines in all of cinema history, spoken by Marlon Brando‘s character Vito Corleone.
