I’m honored to be nominated by the National Cartoonists Society for a divisional award (a.k.a. “Silver Reuben”) in “Magazine Feature/Magazine Illustration” this year. My fellow nominees are also both fellow members of “The Usual Gang of Idiots”, Peter Kuper and Johnny Sampson. Regardless of the results it is always a welcome thing to be recognized by your peers. Back in 2009 I was invited to be a guest speaker at a cartooning festival in Cali, Colombia called CaliComix. I met some very talented cartoonists there, participated in a lot of different events including some drawing jams, and had a great time. Cali was a beautiful place. I bought this hand-tooled leather bottle and glass set there to remember the visit. If your interested, I blogged about the trip. READ MORE

Our 60’s Batman “Batvillians” series keeps on rollin’ with some deep tracks, including this sketch of Maurice Evans as “The Puzzler” from season two! Original available in the Studio Store. Bat Facts: This two episode story was originally intended for The Riddler, but as Frank Gorshin was refusing to play the part the writers changed it to a Puzzler story. READ MORE

The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Research Center at Ohio State University is putting on a huge MAD exhibition entitled “Artistically MAD: Seven Decades of Satire” from May 5th-Oct 21st 2018 in the Robinson Gallery. Here’s their description: Harvey Kurtzman’s brainchild made its debut as a comic book in 1952 before switching to a magazine format in 1955. Over the ensuing years, MAD has featured artwork by many of the most talented cartoonists in the industry. Part three of my three-comiccons-in-a-row whirlwind tour is this weekend at McCormick Place in Chicago at C2E2. I’ll me in Artist’s Alley at booth C-14! New this year will be my MAD #548 “Stranger Things” cover print, copies of Superman and the Miserable, Rotten, No Fun, Really Bad Day, a new Mini-print and loads of other crap.
