Tom’s Daily Coronacature- Me!

June 26th, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

So on day 101 of “Tom’s Daily Coronacature”, new stewards Bob Murphy and Dave Snyder had me as the subject! I saw a lot of really great caricatures of me! As it happens, I had to do a caricature of myself this week for another project, so I officially hit 101 days! This one is in brush pen. READ MORE

SAD MAD News

June 26th, 2020 | Posted in MAD Magazine

With the Daily Coronacature going the last 100 days I have hardly posted any news or other stuff… I’ve been too busy drawing! So, it’s time to address the latest MAD news, which is not all that good. MAD #15 is due to be released in August and will contain some new material. Back in late May MAD stopped accepting solicitations for new work “for the rest of the year”. That includes the year end issue, which is traditionally the “MAD 20 Dumbest People, Events, and Things” of the year. Projects already in the pipeline would be completed, but nothing new would be commissioned except… READ MORE

Tom’s Daily Coronacature Book!

June 25th, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

Well, that’s a wrap! 100 days of posting a subject and doing a caricature every day! Whew! It’s been a wild ride but a lot of fun… although it’s put a serious crimp in my studio work. Thanks to everyone who participated! We saw a lot of great caricature art and a lot of earnest effort. Well done, all! Just another reminder that even though I am stepping back, caricaturists Bob Murphy and Dave Snyder are taking the reins and will continue “The Daily Coronacature” in the same format: a new subject each morning along with a few reference pics to get you started. Your… READ MORE

Tom’s Daily Coronacature: The Beatles!

June 24th, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

I confess I did this one yesterday in anticipation of today’s subject… I wanted to spend some extra time on it. I’m a huge fan of The Beatles and wanted to do the band justice. Well, that’s it! 100 days of a new caricature every day. I’ll post a wrap up of all this tomorrow, with a bit of related news. Right now I’m too exhausted! READ MORE

Tom’s Daily Coronacature- Christopher Lambert!

June 23rd, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

Today’s subject was actually a character… Tarzan! We could draw any actor who has played Tarzan in film or on TV. I went with Christopher Lambert‘s Ape Man from the 1984 film “Greystoke” The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes”. I haven’t seen the movie in years, but it came out right when I graduated high school and I vividly remember seeing it in theaters at the time and thinking it was great. Plus… THAT FOREHEAD is more like a FIVEHEAD. READ MORE

Daily Coronacature Catch-Ups!

June 23rd, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

Here are the last of my catch up sketches for “Tom’s Daily Coronacature”. Earlier in our 100 day run I posted a few old sketches due to some deadlines I was trying to beat, so I am doing new sketches of those subjects. Here’s Kurt Russell, Jimmy Fallon and Gina Torres. READ MORE

Tom’s Daily Coronacature- Eva Green!

June 22nd, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

Here’s a quick sketch of the haunting Eva Green for day 98. Eva’s eyes are certainly the focal point of her presence. They have an interesting shape, with a very horizontal upper eyelid and the lower shape of the eye much more round. They are also very wide eyes, taking up almost her entire face width. She has a rather large forehead mass and a thin jawline. Two more days to day 100! READ MORE

Tom’s Daily Coronacature- Donald Glover!

June 21st, 2020 | Posted in Daily Coronacature

Here’s my drawing of Donald Glover. I am not sure it’s much of a caricature of him. Most of this drawing is about the herky-jerky awkwardness of his dance moves in the “This is America” video. READ MORE
