I’ll be posting one of the final caricatures for my new limited edition print each day leading up to its debut at San Diego Comic Con! Here’s the first one, Max Schreck as Count Orlock (actually Dracula except for a copyright lawsuit by Bram Stoker’s estate) from 1922’s “Nosferatu”. I skipped Bela Lugosi earlier in this series since I’d already done a couple caricatures of him and I thought I’d leave him until towards the end. Comedian Gilbert Gottfried and writer Frank Santopadre do a terrific podcast called “Gilbert Gottfried’s Amazing Colossal Podcast!”, and they recently posted a MAD-centric “mini episode” featuring senior editor Joe Railoa and writer Desmond Devlin. It’s a lot of fun so take a listen. By the way, among his long list of writing accomplishments like doing comedy material for a who’s who list of comedians, TV shows and publications, Frank is also a long-time writer for MAD. Q: Why didn’t MAD Magazine approach you to design a Star Wars themed cover for their latest issue (#539) considering the excellent work you did illustrating The Force Awakens parody?
