The Billy Ireland Cartoon Library and Research Center at Ohio State University is putting on a huge MAD exhibition entitled “Artistically MAD: Seven Decades of Satire” from May 5th-Oct 21st 2018 in the Robinson Gallery. Here’s their description: Harvey Kurtzman’s brainchild made its debut as a comic book in 1952 before switching to a magazine format in 1955. Over the ensuing years, MAD has featured artwork by many of the most talented cartoonists in the industry. Part three of my three-comiccons-in-a-row whirlwind tour is this weekend at McCormick Place in Chicago at C2E2. I’ll me in Artist’s Alley at booth C-14! New this year will be my MAD #548 “Stranger Things” cover print, copies of Superman and the Miserable, Rotten, No Fun, Really Bad Day, a new Mini-print and loads of other crap. Q: With you participating in so many comic book conventions, I just had to know—do you come across many people cosplaying as Alfred E. Neuman? A: I actually don’t do all that many comic cons. I only do four every year: San Diego Comic-Con and New York Comic Con, because those are the big ones, and two in Chicago in C2E2 and Wizard World Chicago (formerly Chicago Comic Con) because they are good sized shows but also within a driveable distance of my home.
