I thought I’d let followers of the blog know I’m down to only 30 copies of my limited edition Sherlock Holmes print “The Game is Afoot”. This really is a “limited edition” of 450 signed and numbered prints, so once it’s gone it’s gone. I’ll bring a few copies with me to the various Comic Cons I’m doing this summer as long as they last. This was one of my favorite prints to do as I am a bit of a Sherlockian. BTW the actual print does not have the © info on it. READ MORE

I guess the word is out on this, so I can share it here. First there was Goodnight Batcave, then there was Superman and the Miserable, Rotten, No Fun, Really Bad Day. Now MAD continues it’s shameful desecration of everyone’s childhood memories with the third volume in their kid’s book parody series, Don’t Let the Penguin Drive the Batmobile! Former MAD associate editor Jacob Lambert does the dishonors with the writing this time, while I mail it in with the artwork. This book has actually been done for over a year, and I have twice had to have a face to face conversation with an… READ MORE

This art was for Nick’s “MAD Book” given to him at his retirement Nick Meglin was the only person I ever knew who I would look forward to being insulted by. The world got a little less funny and MAD Magazine lost a large part of its heart and soul yesterday with the sudden passing of Nick from a heart attack. He would have been 83 next month. If there was an official title of “Unsung Hero of MAD Magazine”, Nick would without question wear that crown. While Al Feldstein got a lot of the credit (and MOST of the money) from the success of… READ MORE

Here’s a couple of links to some terrific reads on this and that: Mental Floss has an article on the “15 Secrets of Caricature Artists” by Lela Nargi. Medium contribtor Nell Minow writes about the National Cartoonists Society’s Reuben Weekend, and specifically about the great line up of speakers and panels that were there, including the MAD Magazine panel.. The Hollywood Reporter…uh… reports about the great Stan Sakai being the first honoree of the Joe Kubert Distinguished Storyteller Award from the Kubert School and Atomic Crush Events at Ontario’s Comic Con Revolution earlier this month.
