Now Speaking at Toonfest

September 1st, 2008 | Posted in News

Last week I wrote about the Walt Disney Hometown Toonfest event in Marceline, MO and how my chapter of the National Cartoonists Society is going to have our fall meeting at the event.

Since I wrote that and began organizing our chapter’s meeting I have been tapped by the Toonfest organizers to both emcee the speaker’s presentations on both Friday (Student Day) and Saturday as well as do my own speaking presentation on both days. Looks like I just went from a spectator to a spectacle for the weekend event. Here is a link to the speaker lineup for the event, and here is the tentative schedule of speakers on both days:

Comments

  1. Thanks for the update! I’ve now updated news posts on my own site. I was looking forward to seeing Jerry Scott, after meeting Jim Borgman, but I gotta say they chose a good emcee to take his place. I really enjoyed your talk the last time you were there.

I’ll be honest, I haven’t read MAD in years, although it was staple of my humor diet in the 60’s and 70’s. My two older brothers introduced me to the magazine and for two decades, I would indulge in the wonderful satire from ‘the usual gang of idiots.’
Because my relationship with MAD has been non-existant since that time, I was unaware of you or your work, but after reviewing your website portfolios and blog, I’m glad that I found it.
Well, actually found it through the Toonfest link, which leads me to the point of my comments here in that, I am very eager to meet you and listen to your talk come September 20th in Marceline.
I’m glad you’ve been added to the lineup and look forward to your stories about working for MAD and seeing more of your art.

    See you there,
    Larry Fiore

  3. Tom says:

Looking forward to it, gentlemen See you then!
