A Worthy Kickstarter

December 5th, 2017 | Posted in News

As a rule I do not promote crowd sourcing projects just because 1) there are way too many of them 2) if I promote one I get inundated with requests to promote others, and that’s not what this blog is about. I stopped promoting Kickstarters about 5 years ago.

That said, I’m breaking my own rule and promoting a Kickstarter project from my pal and fellow Minnesota cartoonist/illustrator Cedric Hohnstadt. It’s for a book called “Mostly Nonsense”, and is a collection of gag cartoons he has done via his web comic site Sketchbook Silliness. The book contains over 100 cartoons ranging from clever to silly to thoughtful, with a fair sprinkling of Christian faith-based messages (fair warning if you have a problem with that), plus some bonus sketches and tweeted commentary. The cartoons are funny and really well done, and several have been featured on viral websites like Imgur, 9gag, and Bored Panda. Cedric is a very talented guy. I’ve know him for over 20 years, since he spent a summer drawing caricatures with us at my theme park here in Minnesota. He’s also a fellow member of the National Cartoonists Society.

Anyway Cedric is very close to his Kickstarter goal to fund the book, but he only has about 2 days left to do it. For as little as $15 you can get a physical copy of the book and a PDF for digital viewing, or only $7 for just the PDF. He also has lots of discounted multiple copy packages and it looks like he intends to get the copies to people in time for Christmas, so this can double as a fun gift for your cartoon-loving friends and family.

So, go check out Cedric’s book project, and back it if you are of a mind. I’m looking forward to getting my signed copy!

  1. Thanks for the post Tom! I appreciate the support. One small correction – the book will have tweets sprinkled throughout but they aren’t commentary (i.e. me talking about my work), they are just silly jokes and comments.

Also, all backers will also get bonus rewards including cartoon “greeting card” memes, a PDF of sketches, a PDF of the Pose Drawing Sparkbook, and two months of exclusive bonus cartoons (something I normally only give to Patreon backers).

Anyway, thanks again for the plug!

I just made a pledge, and as of 3:30 PM Eastern time, he’s got 49 hours left to make the funding goal. All he needs is a measly $85.00 more in pledges to meet the goal!
