My Lakes International Comics Arts Festival Schedule!

October 12th, 2017 | Posted in News

I’m in Jolly ol’ England for the The Lakes International Comic Art Festival in Kendal, on the edge of the Lake District, Cumbria, which kicks off tomorrow!

I’ll be involved in several panels and doing a “Masterclass” about caricature, as well as a couple of signings and a some time at the National Cartoonists Society booth in the Clocktower. I’ll detail what kind of stuff I am going to have available, but here’s my schedule:

Friday, Oct. 13th:

  • 7:30 pm BAC Theatre: Quick on the Draw!-
    • The legendary Sergio Aragonés will demonstrate his quick-fire genius together with superstars from the USA’s cartooning scene – Luke McGarry, Rick Stromoski and Tom Richmond, MC’ed by Steve McGarry
    • This is a ticketed event, get your tickets HERE

Saturday, Oct. 14th:

  • 11:15am-12:15pm BAC Malt Room: The Ultimate Caricaturing Masterclass with Tom Richmond-
    • Free for attendees but limited room, bring drawing stuff!
    • Signing session immediately following (I’ll have my Sketch o’the Week book available)
  • 2:45-3:45pm BAC Screen One: MAD meets Viz!
    • What happens when these two humor magazines meet for the first time and go head-to-head? Does anyone care? Featuring Sergio Aragonés & Tom Richmond from ‘MAD’ and Graham Dury & Simon Thorp from ‘Viz’ and refereed by John McShane.
    • Signing session immediately following (I’ll have my Sketch o’the Week book available)
  • 4:30-6:00pm Comics Clocktower: NCS table
    • I’ll be there signing with the stuff listed below

Sunday, Oct. 15th:

  • 11:00am-12:00pm BAC Art Room 1: NCS “Cartoon-a-Room”!-
    • Sketching with Kids in the NCS Cartoon-A-Room – interactive workshop drawing fun characters. This is just my time there, other artists will be there throughout the Festival
  • 1:30-5:00pm Comics Clocktower: NCS Table-
    • I’ll be there signing with the stuff listed below

I can only haul so much stuff with me all the way to England, so I will have just a few of the following items with me:

  • The Mad Art of Caricature book: £15
  • Sketch o’the Week Vol. 1 book: £10
  • New “Stranger Things” print: £8
  • “James Bond” and “Batman” mini prints: £5 ea
  • Caricature sketches: £75*

* Rather than bring my live caricature stuff along (which is en route via shipping back from New York Comic Con anyway) I’m bringing along some nice 11″x14″ bristol and a bunch of pencils, and will be doing detailed pencil sketches at a higher price than my usual live quick draw stuff. I’m only going to be able to do a few of these since they will take about 60 minutes each at least, so they will be very limited.
