Orlando Caricature Workshop!
My Orlando Florida caricature workshop is a go! Deposits are being accepted now on the Workshop page. I’ve gotten a lot of interest with this, so if I get 18 or more wanting to attend I will add a second workshop either the weekend before or after. If you go to the page and find it is sold out, email me and let me know you want to be on the waitlist.
The details:
Dates: January 19th-21st, 2017
Location: Quality Inn and Suites, 626 Lee Road, Orlando, FL
Class size: Limited to 12 students
Itinerary:
Thursday, Jan 19th:
- 1:00 pm- 6 pm: Lecture on caricature theory, drawing and exaggerating features, practical application; Demonstration of Tom’s MAD magazine illustration process
Friday, Jan 20th:
- 9:00 am- noon: Morning session- Exercises on observation and exaggeration of faces, caricature techniques
- Noon-1:00 pm: Lunch (included, provided onsite)
- 1:00 pm-3:00 pm: Afternoon session- Hands on drawing of multiple subjects, individual and class critiques
- 3:00 pm- 3:30 pm: Break (refreshments provided)
- 3:30 pm -6:00 pm: Evening session: Assignment of workshop projects, one-on-one instruction and critique
- 6:30-??: Class dinner at nearby restaurant (cost on own)
Saturday, Jan 21st:
- 9:00 am- Noon: Morning session- Finishing workshop project, one-on-one instruction and critique
- Noon-1:00 pm: Lunch (not included, on own)
- 1:00 pm 5:00 pm: Finish workshop project, class critiques, portfolio reviews

Hey, Tom! In case you ever wondered if you have a fan in Greece, well, you have at least one! I’ve been following your blog for more than three years and am a proud owner of your TMAoC book (alas not signed!) and two of your limited edition prints (the Bats and the Sherlocks). I haven’t had the chance to meet you yet in one of the comic cons you usually attend or sign up for one of your workshops, mostly due to the distance and the expenses involved. However, if you decide to do one in the Eastern cities (maybe New York, Washington, Boston), I may be able to make it, even more so if you do one in Europe, no matter which country or city (Frankfurt, Munich or London are fine!). I believe the interest in such a workshop in Europe will exceed your expectations and of course you and the Lovely Anna are always welcome in Greece too!
