Art Auction “Glenn-efit” Now Live!

There is an online auction of various caricature art going on RIGHT NOW to raise money for my friend and fellow caricaturist Glenn Ferguson, who was brutally attacked on New Year’s Day by a disgruntled former co-worker and severely injured. You can read all the details here, but the short version is that Glenn sustained significant brain damage and is in for a long and hard fight to regain his ability to do some of the things we take for granted every day, and especially his ability to do the terrific caricature work he was well known for. This auction is being organized by the International Society of Caricature Artists, an organization I was once president of about a million years ago.

The auction features art donated by several fantastic caricature artists including Venezuelan painter Jota Leal. The image you see above is my donated piece, the two page splash from MAD‘s parody of “House of Cards” from issue 532, April 2015. This piece is really big, measuring 21.5″ x 32″, all pen, brush and ink. Just as a point of reference I usually charge about $700-$800 for something like this, especially with the headers and text pasted in, and the bid is way lower than that right now. Here’s your chance to own an authentic original MAD splash page of a very popular show at a bargain price (I know… BIG DEAL). Don’t get me wrong, I’m hoping the bids jump way up there so we raise as much money as possible for the Fergusons to help with their medical and living expenses, but if someone ends up with a steal of a deal then that’s okay too. Every little bit helps.

100% of the money raised with this auction (less the costs of shipping the art to the winning bidder and any costs the auction website charges) goes directly to Glenn and JoAnn Ferguson.
