Doug Gilford’s MAD Sites

June 22nd, 2012 | Posted in General

If you are a fan of MAD magazine, either past or present, you would behoove yourself to make a regular habit of visiting Doug Gilford‘s MAD cover site. Doug is a great supporter and fan of MAD, and has dedicated a lot of time an effort in cataloging and tracking all things MAD. Not only does he have scans of every MAD cover ever, he has complete lists of the tables of contents of every issue, an exhaustive compiling of every appearance by a MAD contributor (here’s mine), a list of every TV and movie satire that’s ever appeared in the magazine, updated MAD news and much more.

He’s recently brought his daily birthday, anniversary and other MAD connected trivia, fun, and irreverence, to Facebook on the Doug Gilford’s MAD Cover Site group. If you are on Facebook, please do two things for me. First, send a Facebook message to Mark Zuckerberg and call him a pansy… he hates that. Then, join Doug’s group and enjoy his daily posts of classic and recent MAD material.

MAD unofficially sanctions Doug’ antics, mainly because they use him as a research resource and that’s why he has yet to end up in court. Doug’s purpose is to entertain the classic MAD fan while introducing the magazine to a new generation. Help him out by spreading the word . . . plus I might get a raise if MAD‘s circulation starts to spike! It’s a win win!

  1. Ed Meisinger says:

Doug is what you call a MAD “Superfan”! He does a great job promoting MAD!

  2. David Lubin says:

Tom, thanks for mentioning Doug’s site. Reminded me and I went and made a donation. Have used his site numerous times researching foreign issues and just looking around. He’s one in a MADillion.

  3. Doug Gilford says:

Thanks for very generously throwing some attention my site’s way!

  4. john says:

Is it gone for good? All I get is a clever fold-in tribute…

  5. Calvin says:

I hope he posts the stuff he already did back up.

  6. Doug says:

With the changes that happened recently, the Facebook site went away temporarily and came back with a new link:
Just thought those clicking around should know.
Thanks to you and everybody for your interest!
