Friday Book Sneak Peek- Chapter 1

In the next few weeks I’ll be posting a few sneak peeks at some of the pages in my upcoming book¬¨‚ĆThe Mad Art of Caricature!, ordering of which will debut at Comic Con in less than two weeks! Here is the opening of chapter one. The chapter consists of 12 pages and contains over 25 illustrations.
Chapter one includes my definition of caricature, what I think a good caricature needs to accomplish to be successful, what makes a bad caricature and how to avoid it, and the process of developing your “eye” for caricature.

What do you want us the bring to the signing at your house? I see you more as a beer man, if anything. Alaskan Amber sound good?
I have made sure I designed the book in Indesign in such as way that it SHOULD be fairly painless to turn it into a digital book, but that won;t be done for a while. I need to get the printed one out the door first. Somewhere down the road I will have a digital version.

All copies are signed. When you order, you can specify who to personalize it to.
Not sure if you mentioned this elsewhere, but what’s the price?
$24.95 plus shipping (still have to figure that out… flat rate for domestic U.S., international will vary depending on the destination) for a signed copy. There will be other options, including getting an original Alfred sketch in it like I did for the Bo book, and getting one of the original drawings done for the book.
Excellent as expected! Can I have my copy gold embossed and in full 3D please…. 😉
Congratulations Tom, this looks awesome, and the kind of book that I would have killled for when I was starting out back in the late 90s. (And still would, as it happens.) I’ve never forgotten that it was studying your work that ignited my passion for caricature in the first place, and it’s telling that even in 2011 I follow your blog daily. Thank you Sir.
