Book Update

Things are progressing. The book is currently in the final stages of copy editing, I have an official ISBN number and have established a publishing company called Deadline Demon Publishing. It even has a website. The book officially goes on sale Wednesday, July 20th at the San Diego Comic Con. Orders via the website will begin after I return home on July 26th.

    Have you thought about, for people that buy the book access to an online video of you or your artists drawing live. Maybe illustrating some of the points of the book. I’d pay a subscription for this. Even if it was just shot with your phone. Thanks, can’t wait for the book to come out.

    Tom, I was one of the few people years & years ago that asked you to PLEASE put a how to book out , but you said you may consider it. But I couldn’t wait, so I printed everything you had from your tutorials section on this Mad Blog. Can you at least tell us there is “more” to the content of your new book? Maybe along the lines of cartooning in general? Sorry to put you on the spot before the release, we all that visit the Mad Blog daily would like to be thrown “a little bone” regarding a book of the secrets of one of our favorite cartoonist still living today! Thx Tom!

      Lee- While the text and illustrations from the tutorials are incorporated into the book, they are expanded upon quite a bit, there are considerably more illustrations, I continue on through the rest of the face and deal with other aspects of caricature, there is a chapter dealing with the specifics of live caricature technique and airbrushing live caricature, one on freelancing and caricature and one of caricature and MAD.

        Great Tom! In this day and age with raising college teens & gas prices going out of control, it’s hard on a lot of us to purchase certain items that are not an “immediate purchase”, like food, fuel & mortgage,uhg! Therefore it’s nice to know there will be more content to what we already have access too. Personally, I will buy the book out of a “thank you”to the Mad Blog for all the years of outstanding information on the art form of caricature, but in the cartooning industry in general! Now,… I can only hope I can buy the book from you with a small sketch & signature inside,lol? Good luck Tom on the next stages of selling this wealth of useful information!

    There are already tons of caricature books out there but yours
    is the Mad style and it will be unique!

      I’ll deliver it anywhere their is delivery available charging only actual shipping costs. However I’m afraid you folks on other sides of the oceans may end up paying more for shipping than you do for the book. 🙁

    I also write from Spain, I’ve wondered on occasion if we see a esdici??n written in Spanish.

    I take this opportunity to see if I can contact the mail before Joan and few interested in the cartoon are in Spain, since it seems that in our country there is little interest in the subject. I would contact to see if we do something, I leave my contact email jm@inter-trace.es.

    Hi Tom great to here that finally your book is going to come out, im very interest on the live caricature technique and airbrushing ill be doing a comic demonstration on saturday, traditional and digital art this will be my first and ill be doing some sketchs for the kids and a little constest about comic stuff, next semester ill be studying airbrushing at my University so it ill be a great help with your book.
