Spencer Grammer

Quick warm up study of Greek TV show star Spencer Grammer. I had just read a blurb about this show yesterday and that she is the daughter of Kelsey Grammer, better know to the world of course as “Dr. Henry McCoy” AKA “The Beast” from X-Men: The Last Stand… oh and I guess a couple of TV shows as well.

I’ve had a few requests to post the photo I worked from with these sketches as well. I won’t have time to do that very often but here’s the pic I drew this one from:

I have no idea at all if my caricature looks anything like her, as this is literally the only picture I have ever seen of her, and I’ve never watched the show. By the way, In the context of demonstrating an art technique it would be considered “fair use” to post this copyrighted photo along with the sketch.

    Awesome….I love it. Great resemblance, even with that oddly unbalanced eye on the right! You also caught those heavy eyelids! Great work. I also like the addition of the ref pic.

    That off shaped right eye stuck out to me, so I pushed that a little bit. Photos often lie, so you can’t be sure from one to another if they are misleading you. Best to have several pictures, even if you are using one and the base. That’s too much work for these simple sketches, so i just go with what I see.

    Pushing the eye back is exactly what this needed to gain a perfect likeness!!!
